Calysta at INTA 2025

Calysta at INTA 2025

Earlier this May, Peter Buckinx, Johan Dedeckel, and Sjors de Koning represented Calysta, at the INTA Annual Meeting 2025 in San Diego, California—the world’s largest gathering of IP professionals.

Over the course of just a few days, we held more than 100 meetings combined and connected with colleagues from over 30 countries. While the schedule was packed and the 9-hour time difference gave those who came from Europe a solid dose of jet lag, the energy and value of the event made it all worthwhile. Of course, for those who represent Calysta’s newly opened office in Los Angeles, the trip down to San Diego was a bit shorter.

Although our clients are based primarily in Europe, their innovation and brands often need protection beyond Europe’s borders—in North America, Asia, Latin America, and beyond. That’s why having a strong, reliable network of foreign associates is so essential. When our clients need to protect their IP abroad, we work hand-in-hand with trusted partners who know their local systems inside and out.

And the relationship goes both ways: many of the associates we met at INTA have clients seeking protection in Europe, and they rely on Calysta to handle those matters with the same care and precision.

Beyond the meetings, INTA San Diego had some unforgettable moments. From spotting Top Gun references across the city to touring the USS Midway aircraft carrier museum, and even catching a live soccer game (or “football” as we call it back home), there was time to enjoy the setting too. It was hard work—and also a lot of fun.

We’re returning with stronger relationships, global insights, and a clear goal: to keep delivering seamless IP service across borders.

Next year’s INTA will be held in London—a bit closer to home. We’re already looking forward to it.
